“the hermit kingdom: basketball diplomacy”

If you’ve checked CNN (or any news outlet for that matter) in the last couple of months, then I’m sure you’re aware of the less than affable relationship between the U.S and North Korea. And while maybe the phrase "less than affable" is better used to describe the relationship I currently have with my ex as opposed to one that includes a nuclear weapon threat, I think we all get the point: There isn’t anything in the world that could forge a cordial get together between people from the two countries. Anything except basketball that is! So, with the prior knowledge of Kim-Jong un’s love for American basketball, VICE’s Ryan Duffy traveled with Dennis Rodman and three Harlem Globetrotters to North Korea for the final episode of their HBO series and we were able to get a sneak peak. The episode gives an amazing insight into life inside the Hermit Kingdom through a tour of the capital, various basketball events, and even a meeting with supreme leader Kim-Jong un himself. It was unbelievable to see all that goes on in North Korea, and before I give away too much, you truly need to see the episode air in its entirety in order to gain the full perspective on the topic. It will premiere tonight at 11 pm on HBO and a little preview of the season finale can be seen below.
