Given the recent wave of athletic-inspired styles in the past few seasons, it is no wonder that we’ve seen flashes of trefoils and stripes just about, well, everywhere. Officially cementing its role as king of the high street, adidas Originals has partnered with Topshop for a capsule collection that achieves the perfect balance of street style and rich sport heritage. “Our love of fashion and sportswear comes to life in this capsule collection. Sportstyle classics with bold graphic numbers are the superstar looks this season,” Kate Phelan, Creative Director of Topshop said in a press release.
Reimagining adidas for the Topshop girl, the capsule updates iconic staples with slim silhouettes, and a bold, ’80s hip-hop inspired color scheme: think the essential SUPERSTAR jacket with a cream perforated leather construction, and SUPERSTAR shoes with a clear sole and a metallic cracked leather shell toe. “Our capsule with Topshop is the perfect partnership, as it allows us to explore a contemporary fashion aesthetic while paying homage to our iconic sportswear roots,” added Josefine Aberg, Design Director of adidas Originals.
Of course, some things are better left untouched: the original adidas Originals trefoil logo serves as the hero motif for the collection, and appears with large scale placement on the collection’s oversized sweat and t-shirt. In celebration of sporting success, pieces are trimmed with stopwatch timing details, and feature the iconic three stripes. Ranging from $45 to $270, the seven-piece collection launching today is one you cannot afford to miss out on.
