Michelle Obama, Tina Fey, Laverne Cox, and More Promote The United State Of Women

The United State of Women is coming

by Ben Barna

In one of her final major acts as First Lady, Michelle Obama will sit down with Oprah Winfrey on June 14 to host the United State of Women summit at the White House. The conference will be "a large-scale effort to rally together advocates of gender equality to highlight what we’ve achieved, identify the challenges that remain, and chart the course for addressing them," according to the First Lady's Medium page.

To promote the event, which is already full after 5,000 people signed up, the White House put together a pretty empowering video featuring 27 strong women delivering an important message. Meryl Streep, Oprah Winfrey, Tina Fey, Laverne Cox, Kerry Washington, and the First Lady, are some of the more famous faces that show up. But the video also includes Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards, the first female NFL coach Jen Welter, and Indra Nooyi, the chairman and CEO of PepsiCo.

The women touch on subjects like pay equality, leadership, and consent, all subjects that will be discussed during the conference by a diverse group of speakers. The official topics discussed will be:

* Economic Empowerment

* Health and Wellness

* Educational Opportunity

* Violence Against Women

* Entrepreneurship and Innovation

* Leadership and Civic Engagement

The event will be live streamed on the summit's official site. Watch the video above, which also features comedian Jessica Williams, Tory Burch, Aidy Bryant, and many more.
