UP IN FLAMES

the “official” color of 2012? red hot.

by liza darwin

Last year Pantone proclaimed honeysuckle as the hue of 2011.

It's a girly reddish-pink, kind of a sophisticated bubblegum Barbie. But that lively shade literally pales in comparison to the color of 2012, "Tangerine Tango."

The company says that "the spirited reddish orange continues to provide the energy boost we need to recharge and move forward." Take from that description what you will, but designers from Tommy Hilfiger to Bottega Veneta have all caught onto this heat wave, too.

Yes, it's bright (our eyes even started to hurt a bit while we were pulling our favorites), so you should probably stick with neutrals for the rest of your outfit. But on the other hand, that also means that seasonal affective disorder stands no chance against this sunshiney shade.

So who cares if it's still 2011? Go ahead and get an orange crush below.
