WEAR YOUR RUBBER
marni brings recycling to the runway.
Every season, there's some Project Runway challenge that makes you go, "Whatever, nobody actually does that." You know, like when they have to make clothes from Saturn car parts, or attempt to build a bustier from frozen Popsicles.
But though Tim Gunn and co. may be pushing it, there does seem to be movement in the recycled runway direction. Next year, Marni releases their new jewelry collection, made mostly out of recycled tires.
The Goodyear bits are then carved, hand painted, and strung onto necklaces and bracelets that go with Marni's latest creation.
Sold at Marni boutiques and online, the pieces - worn by models like Freja Beha and Kim Noorda on the Milan catwalk - may be a bit too haute for some shoppers, but they'll provide good inspiration for anyone looking to turn trash into high fashion treasure.
Plus: They're way more interesting than PR's last season. Sorry Heidi, but you know it's true.
