What NYLON Editors Are Actually Wearing On New Year’s Eve
Ending the year in style
We've shown you all the different ways to dress to the nines this holiday season, but we bet you're probably wondering if we take our own advice. Since we are all firm believers in show, don't tell, it brings us much excitement to be able to share our last outfits of 2016. We persuaded nine of NYLON's editors to divulge exactly what they'll be wearing when the ball drops on New Year's Eve. Some have had this figured out for weeks while others are scrambling to order the pieces, but rest assured, it will all come together on December 31. (If anything changes, you'll see it on Instagram.) Cheers to closing 2016 looking better than ever!

I'm not crazy about sequins for NYE, so I'm going the other extra route: feathers. The dress conjures up Clueless vibes, and I can already tell I'm going to regret wearing these shoes as soon as I put them on. But hopefully, I'll be having too much fun (read: drinking too much Champagne) to care.

I'm going to a party at the home of a good friend this New Year's, and while the attire is definitely fancy, it's not crazily so. This makes me happy because I don't want to be uncomfortable all night in toweringly high heels and a precariously low cut dress. That said, I'm still excited about dressing up and about the fact that, since I know I'll be in one location and that location is strictly inside, I won't have to dress too warmly, even if the temperatures are totally frigid. I'm planning on wearing Sezane's High Maddy Courts because they give me good height but are comfortable enough to stand around in for hours—plus I love any shoe that makes it look like my feet are wearing corsets. And then for my dress, something sparkly is still in order—it is the new year after all. This simple column from Rachel Comey fits the bill. Because I know my outdoor time will be minimal, I'm going to wear this lovely voluminous trench in the prettiest of pink and keep everything I need for the night in this fuzzy faux fur clutch. I can't wait.

New Year's Eve is my least favorite holiday of all time because it's always way more stressful than it needs to be. Every year, I find myself wondering why I didn't insist on renting a cabin in the woods upstate with my friends to get away from all of the overly hyped madness. I still have no idea what I'm actually doing to ring in 2017, but I know exactly what I will be wearing for the evening. The key to a good NYE outfit is comfort and I've made the mistake of dressing to fit into the setting one too many times. I want to finish the year on a low-key note, feeling 100 percent cozy, and nothing looks better on me than a black jumpsuit. I'll actually be rocking the Formula X Urban Bush Babes nail polish in 'Seeing Double' to add some bling to this minimalistic look, but any shade of gold will work for the special occasion at hand. It's been real, 2016.

There's no denying my love of velvet, and I find that the holidays are a perfect time to make a statement with it. I'll be ringing in the new year in Rome, and I'm going for this burgundy romper with a plunging neckline, balanced by long sleeves. To accessorize, I'll be rocking a choker, a black cross-body bag, and a pair of booties with a chunky heel. Cheers to an awesome 2017!

I'll be DJing on New Year's Eve, which means I need an outfit that I can hop around in, be comfortable in, and not have anything to adjust (straps, elastic, whatever), as well as fabrics that look the same at the beginning of the night as they do at the end. These Steve Madden boots have been my go-to gig shoes for years, especially as they look better with age (I'm on pair three), the Vetements shirt is my favorite kind of oversize chic, and the rest pulls it together for a cohesive, upscale-glam-meets-trashy-
after-hours look. Black lipstick and a tiny cat eye finish it all off. See you behind the decks.

Let me start by saying that I'm blessed to be spending New Year's Eve this year with my very best friend who currently lives in Portugal. We met on New Year's a few years ago, so being reunited during this specific time is especially magical. One of our favorite ways to celebrate our friendship is by matching, so this means everything you see before you is going to be served up times two.
First off, we're taking a little inspo from Kim K with the fishnets underpants—probably just going to work with some black denim we already have, but we're scoring the fishnets from good ol'
. We're both big fans of vinyl and our boobs, so this clear vinyl bra top from Dolls Kill was a very obvious choice. And the final cherry on top is going to be these black patent boots with a clear heel from Public Desire. You ain't even ready.

Year after year, I opt for a jumpsuit to wear on NYE. Practical and cute, a romper is truly perfect for house parties (which is where I will be this year) or a night out. I am loving this tuxedo-inspired one from one of my recently favorited U.K. label, Lavish Alice, paired with, no exaggeration, the most comfortable heels that I have donned in years and this statement clutch that speaks for itself. To slaying 2017.

2016 was a year of growing comfortable with my adult style and purging my closet, once and for all, of the various phases from my undergrad years. 2017 will be a year of refining that style and embracing it more fully, which means fucking up the gender binary and rocking a dress if I damn well please. It's not goth, it's not punk, it's not fuccboi, it's not post-Tumblr, but it is
something,
and 2017 will be the year I find a name for my style.
