Zayn Malik’s Releases New Track “Like I Would”

more synths!

by Ben Barna

Ahead of his debut solo album's March 25 release, we're getting an increasingly clear idea of why Zayn Malik left One Direction: More synths! "Like I Would" is Malik's latest track off his upcoming record, Mind of Mine, and it's more up-tempo than previous releases, “It’s You” and “Pillowtalk.” But one thing they all have in common is their neo-futuristic production that sounds like it came from another galaxy than the earthbound bubblegum pop 1D still traffics in.

"Like I Would" is a pretty straightforward come-on, with Malik promising that "He won't touch you like I do/ He won't love you like I would," over a mechanized, pulsating beat and spacey synths. The song, which will be available as part of Mind of Mine's deluxe edition, was produced by XYZ. Earlier this month, Malik dropped the tracklist for his album, with the song lyrics purposely spelled out with a schizo blend of capital and lowercase letters, because Malik just doesn't give af. You can check out the complete tracklisting below and then pump "Like I Would" on loop until March 25.
