How To Coordinate Neon Makeup & Nails For The Ultimate Beauty Look

The brighter, the better.

Written by Marissa Oliva

Neon makeup makes a bold statement whether you go all-in with swatches of electric color or low key with flicks of vibrant liner, and the brighter and more brazen the better: Coordinating your makeup with nail polish colors that are just as bright will max out the neon for a head-turning effect. Ahead, four coordinating, high-impact looks to add to your rotation right this second — including all the products to create them, available at Ulta Beauty.

Space-y Green

A loud neon green wing paired with a negative space mani will lift your look to another dimension. To get it, use the Airbrush Precision Shadow Brush from the IT Brushes For ULTA Prismatic Eye Brush Set to pick up Come Alive, the lime green eye shadow in the Morphe 35O3 Fierce by Nature Artistry Palette. Blend it from inner to outer corners and up to just below brow bones, then create the shape of your exaggerated swoop before filling it in and blending out lines. Next, line lower lashes, a shimmering moss color from the Morphe palette. For nails, apply a base coat, then cut thin strips of Scotch tape or nail tape. Place them wherever you want negative space and paint around them with a green that matches your eyes like China Glaze Nail Lacquer in In The Lime Light.

Varsity Blues

Two saturated colors are more intense than one, so why not layer liners for double the vibrancy? Rim upper lash lines with a bright blue eyeliner like Treslúce Beauty Intenso Gel Eyeliner in Royal Blue, then flick it at outer corners to create an uptick. Now trace a yellow color like Kat Von D Super Pomade Vegan Eyeliner, Shadow & Brow Pigment in Daffodil on top with the Flat Eyeliner Brush from the e.l.f. Cosmetics Ultimate 5 Piece Brush Set Collection. Finish with a few squiggly designs on brow bones — let your creativity reign — and keep the attention on your eyes with fresh white nails like these easy Glamnetic Angel Press-On Nails.

Twist of Lemon

This shock of yellow is like jewelry for your face and hands, accenting your eyes and skin and brightening your disposition. For the most fluorescent color payoff, blur out eyelids with a high-coverage concealer like Tarte Shape Tape. This step mutes any redness or discoloration and creates a blank canvas for the color. Now brush the shade Oasis, a sunny shimmery yellow from the ColourPop Sandstone Eyeshadow Palette over the inner third of your upper and lower eyelids, and into corners so the color hugs your eyes. A few swipes of an inky black volumizing mascara like Essence Lash Princess Mascara anchors the look. Mimic the same minimalist-brightness on your nails by prepping them with a base coat and a swipe off yellow polish just over the tips. Seal with a shiny topcoat. Try Essie Nail Polish in Check Your Baggage and OPI Infinite Shine Top & Base Coat.

Blue Haze

Try this saturated twist on a smoky eye with electric shades of blue and purple. Prime lids with e.l.f. Power Grip Primer to prevent eyeshadow and glitter fallout. Next, take the All Over Lid Brush from the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill The Eye Master Collection and sweep the pale blue Home Planet color from Urban Decay’s Naked x Robin Eisenberg Eyeshadow Palette over lids and creases. Blend Alien Babe, a richly pigmented blue shimmer, from the middle of the eye to just before outer corners, then finish with Ice Crater, an icy purple, at outer corners. Lightly buff the shades together with the Universal Blender Brush from the Morphe Collection for a hazy finish, then use the Eyeliner Smudge Brush to apply the eyeshadow colors in the same order as your lids to lower lash lines. Finish with mascara and OPI Infinite Shine in Do You Sea What I Sea? on nails to match your eyes.
