How LANY Finished Mama’s Boy During One Of The Strangest Times In Music

by Elly Ayres

If you’ve been listening to LANY’s pop-infused alt-rock sound since the early “ILYSB” days, or your first stream came later with 2018’s Malibu Nights (maybe while processing a heartbreak of your own?), the Nashville-formed trio has probably soundtracked milestones for you already. If not, 2020’s Mama’s Boy is ready, representative of the band’s more “rough-around-the-edges, ‘dirt-on-the-boots moment,’” says lead vocalist Paul Jason Klein. Reflecting on the album’s recent release during the pandemic, he adds, “It's been out for four months, but we are already working on album four because that's the only option that we have.”

“We're always trying to do new things and pivot. For album four, it's going to be really sleek and shiny pop music.”
