Iconic '80s denim brand Jordache had a recent luxury relaunch when it enlisted denim designer Benjamin Talley Smith to head up its Fall 2018 collection, commemorating its 40th birthday and solidifying its place in the current denim market. And its next iteration for Spring 2019? Suffice to say, we're in love.
The latest is a collection dedicated to New York City. Inspired by the logo-heavy souvenir shops found on Broadway and Canal, the collection features classic vintage silhouettes—such as high rise and straight leg jeans and oversized jackets—that are modernized and reinterpreted in all-over logo prints, rainbow spray paint (yes, each pair is sprayed by hand), and—possibly my favorite iteration of denim ever—salmon-hued jeans. (Okay, the brand is calling it orange, but it definitely reads more salmon to me.) And, because I'm someone who typically finds luxury denim collections to be a snore, you can trust me when I say this is truly some good stuff.
While the Jordache brand has been carried in Walmart for the past few years, the *original* Jordache—the one partially responsible for the designer denim movement of the past—is officially back and better than ever.
This luxury rebrand may be priced higher than its Heritage counterpart, with prices ranging from $95 to upward of $650 for outerwear, but it's a worthwhile investment if you're looking for quality denim staples with a bit of pizazz. And as temperatures in New York begin to rise and my oversized chunky knits and wool coats are simultaneously shoved to the very back of my closet, I'm looking forward to making colorful, logo-splattered denim with an '80s twist my new seasonal uniform.
