Halsey Wore A Full Face Of Drugstore Makeup To The Emmys
Almost every product used for this ethereal look is $15 or under
Halsey stepped out last night for the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards, and unsurprisingly, she looked great. In addition to delivering a moving performance during the show, the "Nightmare" singer served a fresh, inspired beauty look.
We're used to Halsey turning heads with her bold red carpet moments (hello rainbow roots), but this soft, ethereal look is stunning in its simplicity, which, according to longtime makeup artist Denika Bedrossian, was exactly what they were going for. "Ethereal glam took center stage for Halsey's red carpet look," Bedrossian said of the look in a press release, adding that they opted to go with berries and shimmers to complement the feather-covered ombré Rami Kadi gown.
Although it looks expensive, her entire look comes courtesy of NYX Professional Makeup, meaning you can copy her exact beat without breaking the bank. Full breakdown, ahead.
For Glass Skin Glow
Bedrossian used NYX Professional Makeup Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil Radiant Perfecting Primer to prep Halsey's skin, which she credits with giving the singer a hydrated, dewy base.
NYX Professional Makeup, Bare With Me Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil Radiant Perfecting Primer, $15, available at NyxCosmetics.com.
For Dewy Complexion
Bedrossian wanted to accentuate and even out Halsey's complexion rather than covering it, so she opted for Born to Glow Naturally Radiant Foundation which offers light coverage and lends skin a healthy-looking glow.
NYX Professional Makeup, Born to Glow! Naturally Radiant Foundation, $10, available at NyxCosmetics.com.
For Sun-Kissed Glow
Next, to warm up the skin and add contour, she used California Beamin' Face & Body Bronzer in the shade "Sunset Vibes," a warm amber hue that sums up the phrase "sunkissed glow."
NYX Professional Makeup, California Beamin' Face & Body Bronzer, $13, available at NyxCosmetics.com.
For a Highlight
Affordable highlighters can be hard to come by, but we're particularly impressed with this liquid option from NYX. Bedrossian paired Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator (a fan favorite) with shadow 25 from the Modern Dreamer Shadow Palette and applied it on Halsey's nose, cheeks, and around the eyes.
NYX Professional Makeup, Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator, $7.50, available at NyxCosmetics.com.
For a Matching Eye
Bedrossian used the same shade from the Modern Dreamer Shadow Palette on the lid, a 40-shadow palette with lots of versatile shades.
NYX Professional Makeup, Modern Dreamer Shadow Palette, $35, available at NyxCosmetics.com.
For *That* Lip
The best part of the look was the lip—Suede Matte Lipstick in "Copenhagen"—an eight dollar lipstick that delivers high-impact, luxe-looking results. The goal was "freshly picked berries," and Bedrossian absolutely nailed it. Rather than applying it straight on the lips, she tapped it on with her fingers to create a stain-like effect.
NYX Professional Makeup, Suede Matte Lipstick, $8, available at NyxCosmetics.com.
