H&M’s Latest Collaboration Is A "Love Letter" From Africa

The retailer teamed up with South African label Mantsho on a vibrant new collection

H&M has been killing it with the collaborations lately. From its '80s lifeguard-inspired collection for Stranger Things to its recent capsule collection with Chinese designer Angel Chen, it's been a pretty busy season for the retailer. Now, it's closing out summer with a brand-new collection, marking the first time it's collaborated with a South African fashion designer.

Get excited for H&M x Mantsho, a gorgeously vibrant and print-heavy collection with South African label Mantsho. Mantsho, which translates to "black is beautiful" in creative director Palesa Mokubung's native Sesotho language, has been a fashion staple for the country since 2004.

For the collab, Mokubung recreated some of her favorite pieces from her most recent collections in an ode to African fashion and culture. "This is my love letter to the world from Africa," she said in the official press release. "I hope customers around the world will enjoy this ensemble of my standout pieces from my last three collections."

The colorful offering of flowing, playful dresses, robes, and separates is seen in a print-heavy color palette that includes browns and blacks, sky blues, and pops of baby pinks and amber reds. The collection also includes accessories, like espadrille flats, sculptural earrings, and a woven clutch bag.

Essentially, it's the perfect end-of-summer collection, elegantly breezy and free-spirited, but still appropriate for when summer temperatures begin to cool down.

The collection is set to launch on August 15 and will be available online and in select U.S. H&M stores. Take a closer look at the campaign, below.
