The '90s Jelly Sandal Just Got A Downtown Cool Kid Upgrade
We want everything from Melissa and Opening Ceremony's new summer shoe collab
Calling all '90s fashion enthusiasts: the beloved jelly sandal just got a major upgrade.
Melissa, the Brazilian accessories brand behind the classic jelly sandal (and a number of other amazing collabs), has teamed up with Opening Ceremony on a shiny new summer collection, taking the nostalgic '90s shoe and giving it a downtown cool kid makeover.
The new collection consists of a trio of new shoe styles: the Ladii, a sculptural block heel with PVC strap; the Flip, a PVC pool slide; and the Hatch, a classic sandal with cage detailing. As would be expected, the styles are available in a variety of candy-colored shades. (And don't worry, there are also a handful of neutrals for those of you with an aversion to color.) Prices range from $98 to $149 and all shoes are made from Melissa's vegan jelly material.
Debuting today, this collection marks the first time Opening Ceremony and Melissa have joined forces, though it's been noted that OC creative directors Carol Lim and Humberto Leon have been admirers of the Brazilian brand since a trip to the country back in 2002.
Starting today, you can snag the shoes online and at select retailers, such as Melissa's Galeria stores in New York, London, and Sao Paulo and Opening Ceremony locations. Take a closer look at each new style, below.
