If you needed any more proof that Pat McGrath is an absolute legend, look no further than the beauty from the Valentino Spring 2020 show. The makeup artist sent models down the runway with glittering crystal eyes—some wearing oversized gold wings that melted into oversized brows, while others had monochrome bronze shadow and liner. No two models looked exactly alike, but the unifying theme was gold. "Pierpaolo [Piccioli] really wanted gold," McGrath shared in an interview with Vogue, adding that her main directive was to "play." For McGrath, that meant digging into her old couture kits, pulling out discontinued Swarovski crystals, and gold lashes she's been collecting since the '90s.
The results were, in short, stunning. McGrath shared a behind-the-scenes view in an Instagram post, spotlighting model Adut Akech's glitter eyes and brows. The video highlights her flawless skin and scene-stealing eyes and is totally mesmerizing to watch.
The entire show was a masterclass in makeup, and considering Muva Pat was at the helm, we've come to expect nothing less.
