Proenza Schouler And Harmony Korine Collaborate On PS1 Anniversary Bag
It's been 10 years since the bag was released!
Happy birthday, PS1! Proenza Schouler is celebrating 10 years of its first-ever handbag (and celebrity favorite) with a limited-edition PS1 anniversary collection in collaboration with writer, director, and artist Harmony Korine. Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, the duo behind New York City's beloved fashion brand, have teamed up with Korine, who's behind such films as Kids, Spring Breakers, and The Beach Bum, plenty of times before, but it's a first for the designers to tap into his work as a painter.
The two chose three archival paintings, all of which were on exhibition at the Gagosian in 2014, to adorn three different styles of the PS1. Korine's "Blue Check Success" can be found on the bag's Medium (or largest) size, while "Nudity Clause Line" emblazons the Tiny (second largest) style. Of course, a handbag collection wouldn't be complete without an on-trend micro-size version, so PS1's smallest offering stands at just six inches high and features Korine's "Photo Spirit Looper" artwork. The limited release consists of 400 bags for each style, and each item is embossed with its own number.
