8@8: your morning scoop

could this be the end of t-swift and calvin harris?

by Sydney Gore

Today is...

Kindergarten Day! Channel your inner child and go write on the sidewalk with chalk or something.

News of the Day:

+ Meryl Streep is funding the New York Women in Film and Television and IRIS' Writers Lab, a screenwriting workshop for women over 40.

+ One Direction's Louis Tomlinson is starting his own record label and is recruiting members for a girl band. And Zayn Malik recently thanked fans for all of their support on Twitter. Looks like the group is actually starting to move in their own separate directions...

+ Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris have hit a huge relationship rut: The producer is allergic to cats. She should have known he was trouble when he walked in... to her house.

+ If you're on Instagram 24/7, you've probably come across the account of Baddie Winkle, the dopest great grandma on the web. The 86-year-old just scored her own campaign with one of our fave L.A. streetwear brands, Dimepiece. Take notes, kids.

+ Really sad news: Surfer Blood's Thomas Fekete has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and will be stepping down from the band to undergo treatment. Since most of the treatment cost is not covered by insurance, there is a GoFund page to help cover the cost. Donate here.

Deal of the Day:

Ayyyy, get an additional 30% off sale items over at Nasty Gal!

Advice of the Day:

"Women, in our society, are compartmentalized so that we start to feel like we’re cut flowers and after a while we will wilt. I realize now that’s not the case— we can celebrate every age. That’s my encouragement to 20-year-olds who are terrified of getting older: Don’t have a nervous breakdown and don’t hit the Chardonnay too hard. Getting older is not that bad."- Charlize Theron
