9 Body Scrubs That Do More Than Exfoliate

Spa-worthy options ahead

by Taylor Bryant

Body scrubs are criminally underused. Bars of soap are all well and good, so is shower gel, but there’s nothing like a little exfoliating to make a girl feel brand-new.

They come in especially handy in the summertime when the temperatures are high and you discover just how many parts of your body can get sweaty and grimy. (All the parts.) These are the times when a good sloughing is not only beneficial but also plain necessary.

While regular body scrubs are fine, there are a ton of options out there that do double the work. The best body scrubs exfoliate while also energizing, brightening, moisturizing, and even helping you to de-stress. Check out the multipurpose skin-smoothing options ahead.

Tata Harper, Smoothing Body Scrub, $74, available at Credo Beauty

Your skin feels its cleanest after using a body scrub. In the case of this Tata Harper product, it will also feel its smoothest, thanks to a blend of pink Himalayan sea salt, apricot seed powder, and organic sugar.

Ren, Atlantic Kelp and Magnesium Salt Anti-Fatigue Exfoliating Body Scrub, $49, available at Ren

This little jar of relief is heaven after a really intense workout. Kelp and magnesium salt work together to ease your muscles and tone down the inevitable soreness. It's a lot finer than most scrubs, great for someone not fond of feeling like they're sandpapering their skin.

Lalicious, Sugar Coffee Sugar Scrub, $35, available at Lalicious.

I, on the other hand, am not that person. For me, the more abrasive the better. I like to feel that a product is really doing something; I like a large grained exfoliator is what I'm saying. This is why Lalicious gets my praise. Plus, it's caffeine-infused, which helps to stimulate blood flow and, in turn, reduce the appearance of cellulite.

Natura Bisse, C+C Vitamin Scrub, $69, available at Natura Bisse.

For a softer granule option, might we point you to Nature Bisse's vitamin C scrub? With our holy grail ingredient taking the spotlight, it's great for combatting issues like scars or dark spots left over from bacne. The brand also just launched a vitamin C lotion for some tag team action on your problem skin.

NYL, Shimmer Scrub, $36, available at NYL

Can't get your hands on Frank's shimmer body scrub that apparently has a 50,000 person waiting list? NYL's shimmer scrub is just as good (if not better!), and is also organic, comprising just cane sugar and a variety of oils. The best part is it includes bits of glitter that leave you with a nice, glowing shine. It's less Edward Cullen and more what we imagine Beyoncé's skin looks like up close.

Lush, Buffy Body Butter, $24.95, available at Lush

Lush's Buffy body butter has ground rice, almonds, and beans ingrained in what appears to be a regular bar of soap, but will actually give you an impressive scrub down, all the while moisturizing like no other with the help of shea butter.

Bath & Body Works, Eucalyptus Tea Sugar Scrub, $16, available at Bath & Body Works

This stress reliever is a lot more watery than I anticipated, but the aromatherapy benefits make up for it. It's ideal for use after those long days at work that you'd rather forget about.

&OtherStories, Miami Muse Body Scrub, $15, available at &OtherStories.

You can skip the perfume after using this tropical-scented body scrub. Bienvenidos a Miami.

Peter Thomas Roth, Anti-Aging Buffy Beads, $38, available at Ulta.

Glycolic and salicylic acid help this scrub exfoliate while the jojoba oil helps to smooth fine lines. It's also safe to use on your face, so you can combat two areas of your skin at once.
