BOOK CLUB: CREATIVE TIME COMICS

not your average sunday funnies…

by liza darwin

What do you get when you throw together some contemporary artists, current events, and a few pieces of blank paper?

Over the past two years, the NYC organization Creative Time has asked artists like New Yorker cartoonist Michael Kupperman and TV on the Radio's Tunde Adebimpe to produce an illustration that addresses an important issue. But trust us, this comic book is definitely not for kids.

Instead, the witty graphic novel is a month-by-month recap of what's happening in the world, from the Gulf Oil Spill to consumer culture to global warming. It's almost like a history lesson for The Daily Show generation- smart, snarky, and anything but boring.

Read Creative Time Comics online here- and never think of the news the same way again.
