We're completely besotted with the new Calvin Klein campaign, and it's all because the brand adopted a new approach to its model casting. Here's how it all went down: First, Calvin Klein tapped Solange to star in its latest underwear and jeans campaign. Then they had Solange curate her own “family” for the brand's photo shoot. Which, side note: Never have we wanted to be adopted more.
Solange's chosen "family" includes musicians Kelela, Dev Hynes, Adam Bainbridge of Kindness, and Chairlift's Caroline Polacheck. Combined they prove that family doesn’t have to mean blood relations, it can also mean a lot of very cool and talented artists, hanging out together, wearing... jeans. Or, as the brand explains, “whether you’re related or you bond over shared dreams, family is what you make it. A patchwork of individuals, unified and unbreakable.”
Our denim-clad matriarch and her musical friends were shot by photographer Willy Vanderperre, and we must admit it's a pretty stunning followup to the recent CK underwear campaign featuring the cast of Moonlight. Calvin Klein must know the way to our wallet is through their thirst trap photos. Well played.
You can check out the images below, and then shop the looks over on Calvin Klein’s website. Wearing these clothes might not give you automatic entry into Solange's family, but it can't hurt.
