Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Run Away With Me” Sounds Just As Amazing Sung In Simlish

If ever you’re looking to send a Millennial down a nostalgia rabbit hole, start playing the buy mode soundtrack to The Sims. Soon enough, you’ll have them reminiscing about all the hours spent in front of their Dell computers, cheating the system with the get-rich-fast “rosebud” code, and ultimately not playing with the families created once the home was done. Though the vocal-less soundtrack is iconic in its own right, the new Sims games have tapped even further into the pop-culture zeitgeist by enlisting 2015’s pop savior, Carly Rae Jepsen, to sing a song for its soundtrack.
Now, “Run Away With Me” is one of this year’s best pop records. (Do not let anyone try to tell you otherwise.) It’s bright, poppy, and filled with just enough naive longing to keep it exciting. What’s more, it maintains that feeling even when recorded and sung in The Sims’ gibberish language of Simlish. Don’t believe us? Listen to it, below. It still rocks. Now that’s a sign of a true pop masterpiece.
Carly Rae Jepsen’s song will appear on the Sims 4 expansion pack soundtrack, alongside songs by Zedd, Givers, The Vamps, and more.
