Cate Blanchett Lip-Synching “You Don’t Own Me” Will Floor You

Bow down

Is there such thing as too much talent? It's a question we're forced to ask ourselves whenever we read the words of Ta-Nehisi Coates or watch Beyoncé, well, being Beyoncé. And, it's a question we found ourselves asking while watching Cate Blanchett lip-synch to Adele on the stage of Manhattan's historic Stonewall Inn.

Footage of the surprise Monday night performance, which raised money for the anti-gun violence organization Newtown Action Alliance, emerged online Tuesday, and it's just as magical as it sounds. After being introduced by a fabulous drag queen, Blanchett emerges from the darkness like a shimmering diamond and launches into Lesley Gore's "You Don't Own Me." Could this be a side eye aimed at Donald Trump in song form? God, we hope so.

And as if that wasn't enough to send the crowd into a frenzy, Blanchett followed it up with a stunning rendition of Adele's juggernaut hit "Hello." In other words, let's get this woman on an episode of Lip Sync Battle, stat. Watch the magic unfold above.
