film review: x-men days of future past

The ultimate ensemble of mutant superheroes hits theaters….

by Christian Lavery

First off, let’s get one thing straight: I’m no X-Men expert. In fact, this was the first film from Marvel’s storied comic book series I would be seeing. So with no prior knowledge about the movie, an invite from Axe, and bag full of popcorn, I sat and watched as the ultimate ensemble of mutant superheroes returned to the past in a desperate attempt to change the course of history.

Now as I mentioned, this was my first dive into X-Men—so things weren’t as clear as one would like. But even so, that’s no reason to cross the movie off your “must see” list entirely.

The film, which comes out today, had some amazing special effects, the right amount of action, and a splash of comedy that would easily keep any moviegoer entertained. Combine that with an all-star cast of Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and Halle Berry among others, and you’re in for a fully enticing two-hour flick.
