Watch George Clooney React To News Of The Brangelina Divorce
A reporter broke the bad news
George Clooney is a very busy man, so you can’t really blame him if he found out about Brangelina a little later than the rest of us. While we were refreshing our Twitter feeds, Clooney and his wife Amal were joining President Obama at the United Nations General Assembly in New York to discuss the Syrian refugee crisis with world leaders CEOs. But that serious business did not stop CNN reporter Richard Roth from asking Clooney what he thought of the biggest breakup since Justin and Britney. "All right, don't shoot me on this last question, it's a big story. You're friends with both of them. Your thoughts? Any thoughts?"
“What's that?" Clooney asked.
"Angelina and your friend, Brad," Roth said, suddenly overcome by the virality of the moment. “They’re divorcing.”
Clooney, who unlike the rest of us, knows Brad and Angelina well, you know, as real people, was visibly shaken up. “I didn’t know that,” Clooney said, most likely to the glee of the reporter. “I feel very sorry then. That’s a sad story and unfortunate for a family.” Then, a flustered Clooney added, “I feel very sorry to hear that. That’s the first I’ve heard of it.”
Someone who did hear about the end of Brangelina was Adele, who elsewhere in New York, dedicated her entire concert to the former couple. Calling it the “elephant in the room,” Adele told the Madison Square Garden crowd, “I'm dedicating this show tonight to them, 'I was shocked when I woke up this morning.'"
