It’s highly unlikely that while Grimes was penning “Genesis,” she thought to herself, “Wow, this would be the perfect soundtrack for an Expedia commercial about someone’s trip to Tokyo!” But sometimes life surprises you like that. Turns out, this jam is the perfect backdrop for a travel ad—even if it is from 2012. It just goes to show you how ahead of the curve she is.
And no matter how much indie cred you have, at the end of the day, we all have to make money. Even someone as edgy as Grimes has bills to pay, you know? We hope this deal will help fund her next album (which we fully expect to hear in ads three years after it comes out).
