Full disclosure: I avoid shimmer at all costs. It doesn't really matter if it's in the form of lipgloss, eyeshadow, or bronzer--blame it on my ultra-fair skin (which always makes makeup seem that much more intense), but I've always been scared to dust glitter on my face. However, if there's anyone who can convince me to change my mind, it's Jessica Alba. The actress totally nailed it at this week's People's Choice Awards with a body-hugging Jason Wu number, stick-straight hair, and a luminous glow so perfect, it's enough to negate any unfortunate '80s connotations that might come to mind.
We got the scoop behind her look from her makeup artist Monika Blunder. The secret? It all lies in a pearly wash of eyeshadow with the slightest bit of shimmer--think of it as an ethereal take on Jason Wu's spring '14 collection. And luckily for everyone else, it's super easy to replicate. See how below.
1. GLOW IT: Urban Decay Naked Flush- $30
Using a blush brush, lightly sweep this palette on your face, then highlight your cheekbones with Lancome Brush Subtil palette in Menage A Trois Glow.
Now for the eyes! With this 5-shadow set, take the lightest color (soft peach shimmer) and apply it all over your lids. Then, dab the pink silver shimmer in the inner corner of your lids (near the "v"), and sweep the darker hues (matte taupe brown) on the outer edges, extending past the eyelid. Finally, complete the look by lining your lashes with dark chocolate brown shimmer.
3. ROUGE IT: Lancome Lipstick in Fall in Rose- $28.50
Finish by swiping on a coat of this ultra-moisturizing lipstick.
