Justin Timberlake Dedicates iHeart Radio Music Award Acceptance Speech To LGBTQ Youth

“Being different means you make a difference”

by Sydney Gore

Last night, Justin Timberlake won Song of the Year at the 2017 iHeartRadio Music Awards. During his speech, he made a point to send a message to the LGBTQ community. However, it seems that he was muted during the live broadcast on Turner Network stations including TNT, TBS, and truTV. It should be noted that he did drop the F-bomb at the end, so maybe that explains why he was cut off?

“If you’re gay, or you’re lesbian, or you are trans, or maybe you’re just a sissy singer boy from Tennessee—anyone who has treated you unkindly, it’s only because they’re afraid or they have been taught to be afraid of how important you are," he said. "Because being different means you make a difference. So, fuck ‘em.”

We're proud of JT for stepping up. The time to stand in solidarity is now. Hopefully, his actions will speak even louder than his words going forward. Watch the whole speech in the video, below.
