This Beauty Blogger Found Out The Secret Kylie Lip Kit Formula
Quantity ≠ Quality
Before we even get into it, I think it goes without saying that anyone who buys a Kylie Cosmetics product is aware that they are spending more than is necessary. The lip kits range between $15 to $29 (this price excludes the outrageous shipping fee), which is significantly higher than most competitors on the market. Beauty blogger Stephanie Nicole decided to show the differences (or similarities) between the new and old formulas for Kylie Lip Kit matte shade Candy K in a detailed YouTube video.
The most notable contrast was the appearance of Candy K. The new version is a brighter shade of pink while the old one is more of a soft nude tone. "I do feel like the formula is much thinner," Stephanie explained. "The first formula is mousse-y and creamy, and the second one is significantly more watery."
Surprisingly, Stephanie figured out that the new formula for Candy K has the same ingredients as ColourPop's Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick. (She also calculated the total amount that people are spending for both products so people can see where their money is actually going.)
"The ingredients from this Candy K and the ColourPop Clueless Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick are identical," she said. "The ColourPop one does have a few other ingredients in there, which are filler products, but every single thing that's in these Kylie Jenner lipsticks are in the ColourPop ones."
"The company has to pay Kylie Jenner because her name is on it. The extra money is not going for product development or better ingredients," Stephanie added. "All she is doing is basically lending her name out to a brand that knows that no matter what it is, people will wait in line. So when they saw the huge response, they cut some corners, and took a good formula and made it cheap."
Despite this shocking reveal, Stephanie did vouch that Candy K lasted on her lips all day so the formula is basically bullet proof. However, she's sticking with ColourPop because it's more affordable and we don't blame her one bit. Kylie Jenner is still early into her career as a businesswoman, so she has a lot of room to make improvements. In the meantime, the truth is out there, but our lips shall remain sealed. (Preferably in Kourt K.)
