Late-Night Hosts Rip Donald Trump’s Bizarre Press Conference
Is this real life?
Donald Trump delivered a press conference on Thursday, and you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who didn't find it totally mind-boggling. One of those people was Seth Meyers, who called the event "batshit crazy" on the Thursday edition of his show's popular "A Closer Look" segment.
After telling the audience that Trump's unhinged presser forced his staff to scrap their planned line of joking, the late-night host brilliantly picked apart the president's demented "ranting and raving," in which he called Russia "fake news," and asked a black journalist to set up a meeting with the Congressional Black Caucus. "It’s racist to assume all black people know each other," Meyers said. "You don’t know all orange people. ‘Hey Donald, can you set up a meeting with Snooki and the Lorax?'”
Stephen Colbert also had a visceral reaction to Trump's press conference and was far more brutal in his assessment than Meyers. “It’s kind of hard to characterize the press conference,” the host told his audience on Thursday. “Words fail me.”
Colbert pulled no punches in his postmortem of the POTUS' presser, saying that he "started off by defending the rough start his administration has had by immediately attacking America’s true enemy — anybody but him.”
That pretty much sums it up. Watch Meyers on Trump above, and Colbert's take below.
