Yours Truly just confirmed what we've secretly known all along: making music is way more meaningful when you have a particular person in mind.
For their "Other People's Poetry" series, the music site has enlisted some of their favorite artists to create uniquely personal mixtapes for their special someones.
This means that Oberhofer makes a "going away to summer camp" mix for his little sister which includes the indie rocker's covers of "Be True to Your School" by The Beach Boys and David Bowie's "Ziggy Stardust."
It also means that Summer Camp sings Duran Duran's "Hungry Like a Wolf" and Joan Jett's "Bad Reputation" to their friend Becca in the duo's British accents, which is awesome in itself.
And taking the "love letter" theme literally, it means that Katie from Canadian dream-pop group BRAIDS serenades us with songs from Animal Collective and Devendra Banhart with a mixtape intended for her crush, "C."
Finally, with handwritten notes from the musicians explaining the sentiments behind each mix, it means that we'll never listen to these songs the same away again.
