watch this if you’re feeling jaded.

What happens when an indie designer makes an indie documentary?

The answer is Dressed, the true story of designer Nary Manivig's uphill battle to attain his ultimate dream of showing at New York Fashion Week.

In addition to giving an insider's look into the fashion industry and introducing many key players (e.g. Nanette Lepore, Simon Collins, Fern Mallis), the film also gives an intimate look into Manivig as a designer and as a person struggling to overcome a troubled past. Above all, the story succeeds in inspiring its audience. "I believe in myself and the things I do," says Manivig in the documentary."I just don't know how to stop. I only know how to continue. There's no dead end for me. If there's a brick wall, I know how to get through that situation. I just go back to things I went through."

The film first premiered on a very limited number of screens back in 2011-- which means most of us didn't get a chance to see it. Thankfully, the doc hits iTunes and Video On Demand this week. So ditch the jaded schtick and watch this, you daydream believer you!
