MOVIE REVIEW: TRON LEGACY
we check out the holiday blockbuster!
Disclaimer: we're not really sci-fi fans. But luckily, you don't have to be one in order to enjoy the sequel to the 1982 classic film, TRON.
And even if you haven't seen the first movie, here's the recap: Jeff Bridges is Kevin Flynn, a successful computer programmer who mysteriously vanishes one night, leaving his son Sam behind.
TRON Legacy picks up 20 years later after Kevin went m.i.a., when Sam (played by Garrett Hedlund) decides to investigate his father's still-unsolved disappearance. In doing so, he accidentally transports himself to the digital world of The Grid-and although Sam finds his father, he can't escape back to reality. Even though this plot is only so-so, throw in Olivia Wilde as a lost warrior, some amazing special effects, and a throbbing Daft Punk soundtrack. and it's suddenly much more entertaining.
The thing about TRON Legacy is that you can pretty much take anyone to see it with you: best friend, boyfriend, brother, even your parents. Our only suggestion: watch it in IMAX 3-D, where the awesome, all-absorbing effects make you feel like you're living in a crazy video game.
It's total mindless holiday fun where the audience can get in on the action, too-what more do you need?
