beauty queen: natalia kills

copy her rock ‘n’ roll cat eye.

by liza darwin

Back in September, Kate and Laura Mulleavy sent their models down the catwalk in snapbacks and denim--and while this is enough to dub the Rodarte spring 2014 collection NYLON-worthy, it was the cat eye that's holding us over until we can get our hands on the clothes themselves.

Not quite a traditional cat eye but decidedly not smokey, it's a twisted new take on the basic flick. The secret lies in connecting the top line and the bottom line, so that it forms a "V" along the outer edge. We're not the only ones who are fans, though--Natalia Kills did her own version earlier this week in New York City. So give it a whirl with our tips below...it'll make the wait to the Rodarte snapbacks much easier, promise.

1. PENCIL IT: L'Oreal Paris Extra Intense Eye Pencil- $8.95

Run this pencil along the waterline of your upper lashes, then only on the outer corner of the lower lash line.

2. WING IT: Dior Liquid Eyeliner- $34

Retrace your upper lash line with this liquid pen and add additionaly thickness at the outer corner. Extend it past the lash line for a cat eye flick, connecting this part with the pencil on your lower outer corner. Be sure and really load it on--this look definitely isn't supposed to be dainty.

3. LASH IT: Nars "Larger Than Life" Lengthening Mascara- $25

Layer on two coats of mascara to really make it pop.
