NYLON staffers created unique, DIY projects using denim in honor of our annual Denim Issue. Check back here every day of August to see a new project.

Directions:Step 1: Create a stencil for your doll.
Step 2: Take your denim and fold it in half. Use your marker to trace your stencil onto the fabric.
Step 3: Pin the denim together and cut around your stencil.
Step 4: Sew around the side of the figure, making sure to leave an opening at the head. Embrace all eccentricities, and make it look as imperfect as possible.
Step 5: Stuff the doll with the material of your choice (cotton, extra denim, a cut up towel, or blanket).
Step 6: Finish sewing the doll.
Step 7: Use embroidery thread to create “X”-shaped eyes. Then grab two mini red pom-poms and sew them together on the doll’s chest to resemble a heart.
Step 8: Stick some pins in, and release all pent-up frustrations about your past lovers.
