Sunday Sizzle: D∆WN Is The Definition Of BBQ Goals

Vegans like to spice things up too

by Sydney Gore

When summertime finally rolls around, nothing is more fun than the combo of good food, good music, and good company. So every weekend, we’re bringing you BBQ must-haves from the hands of our favorite artists so you can get a real taste of what their lives are actually like. Get your hands on the Sunday Sizzle while it’s hot.

During the early aughts, Dawn Richard became a household name after winning a spot in P. Diddy's quintessential all-American girl group on Making The Band 3. Before we knew it, Danity Kane had assembled and was ready to achieve greatness with the help of Bad Boy Records.

Even though the group only lasted about four years, Richard hasn't let that set her back and emerged with an identity of her own: D∆WN. Last year, she released Blackheart, the follow-up to 2013's Goldenheart. About a month ago, D∆WN and Kingdom also dropped their joint Infrared EP on Fade To Mind.

As a native of New Orleans, you know that D∆WN's tastebuds are popping. "I'm vegan so I make an orange zest (made with real oranges and date sugar) BBQ tofu po' boy," she told us. "Blast a little Tame Impala and the summer is set."

There you have it!
