The ‘That’s So Raven’ Spinoff Is Most Definitely A Thing Now

Here’s a trailer to prove it

Television shows don't merely end these days. They stop for a decade or so, but sooner or later, money hungry execs will play the nostalgia card and bring back a good thing as a thing that could very well be good, or not so much. (Sorry, Fuller House.) Disney's latest revival, a spinoff of That's So Raven, is the latest gamble.

Raven's Home finds Raven Symoné reprising her role as the psychic Raven Baxter. She's a mom now with twins, one of which has inherited her psychic abilities. Anneliese van der Pol returns as Raven's best friend Chelsea. The trailer alludes heavily to the idea of heart, home, and the familial connections between Raven and her kids rather than the grade school drama that made the original so captivating for its younger audience. Now that audience has grown, though, many aren't at the parental age just yet. The bet, then, seems to be on winning over a new, younger audience with the nostalgic humor of the early 2000s.

Symoné left her hosting gig at The View last October to produce and star in the show. Raven's Home premieres July 21 on Disney Channel. In the meantime, see the trailer above.
