Samantha Bee Says She Never Meant To Hurt Anyone, Except Ted Cruz

Samantha Bee has apologized again for her calling Ivanka Trump a “feckless cunt.” She apologized on Twitter after facing criticism, and now she’s doubling down and making sure the country knows just how sorry she is one last time—in a very Bee way.

“A lot of people were offended and angry that I used an epithet to describe the president’s daughter and adviser last week,” Bee said on Wednesday’s Full Frontal. “It is a word I have used on the show many times, hoping to reclaim it. This time, I used it as an insult. I crossed the line. I regret it and I do apologize for that.” She notes that many women just want the word to go away and that she doesn’t want to inflict any more pain. Then, she added a Bee wink to her apology. 

“I want this show to be challenging and I want it to be honest, but I never intended it to hurt anyone—except Ted Cruz," she notes. "Many men were also offended by my use of the word; I do not care about that.” She says she didn’t mean to distract “from more important issues,” but that she "should have known that a potty-mouth insult would be inherently more interesting to them than juvenile immigration policy.” Bee concludes that she is, truly, sorry, and passes along the message that “maybe we should all worry a little bit more about the niceness of our actions.”
