Donald Glover And Emilia Clarke Take Over The Galaxy In ‘Star Wars’ Spin-off

A teaser for the film aired during the Super Bowl last night

After lots of hype and drama and excitement over Solo: A Star Wars Story casting, last night, fans finally got a glimpse at the upcoming film.

For background, the film is the latest spin-off to the Star Wars franchise that Disney has been cranking out over the years. It will focus on the titular character, Hans Solo (played by Alden Ehrenreich), and follow him and other characters in their younger, formative years, including Donald Glover as a sharp Lando Calrissian. Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke will play Solo's childhood friend, Qi’Ra, who is the “only person who knows what Solo really is.” While Chewbacca will play Chewbacca.

In the trailer, Solo is kicked out of flight academy for “having a mind of his own.” But, he’s still holding onto dreams of becoming the best pilot on the galaxy. With the help of Woody Harrelson’s character, Tobias Beckett, he gets himself a crew and heads out to do just that.

The film has had some hiccups along the way—like having to replace the director midway through filming—but it looks like it not only managed to get finished but might actually be good, even if many deem it unnecessary.

Solo: A Star Wars Story will hit theaters May 25. Love up on the teaser posters and trailer in the interim, below.
