Our favorite Californians at Vans have linked up with those dudes from across the pond, who happen to be in a little band you may have heard of--

The Beatles

--to introduce one of the most exciting collaborations to ever hit the streets. The iconic

Yellow Submarine

was released in 1968, just 2 years into Vans' existence. In other words, the two entities distant cousins of the same era are a perfect pair (pun intended).

The

Yellow Submarine

animated film, based on a track by John Lennon and Paul McCartney[,] is propelled by Beatles songs, including “Eleanor Rigby,” “When I’m Sixty-Four,” “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds,” “All You Need Is Love,” and “It’s All Too Much.” When the film debuted, it was instantly recognized as a landmark achievement, revolutionizing a genre with it's freestyle approach and innovative animation techniques, much like Vans.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of The Beatles' first appearance on

The Ed Sullivan Show

, and the

Yellow Submarine

by Vans collection will highlight the group’s global influence on music, art and pop culture. The footwear capsule drops March 1, 2014 but you can go

HERE

for news and updates on the collection's release.
