Watch The First Trailer For Steven Spielberg’s Live Action Adaptation Of ‘The BFG’
Is this the next Harry Potter?
A truly good teaser manages to strike the perfect balance between revealing the basic premise and tone of a film while inspiring enough curiosity to keep viewers on their toes. But in a world where movie trailers continue to reveal way, way too much (ahem, Zack Snyder), the great teaser is becoming a lost art. Just don't tell that to Steven Spielberg, whose first teaser for his live-action adaptation of Roald Dahl's beloved children's classic The BFG hits just the right notes. There's the bespectacled orphan (played by newcomer Ruby Barnhill), the moonlit London orphanage, the promise of adventure, John Williams' sweeping score, and just a glimpse of Mark Rylance as the titular Big Friendly Giant. No, it's not Harry Potter, but it's pretty darn close, and that's fine with us. The BFG hits theaters July 1, 2016.
