The Full Length Trailer For ‘The Discovery’ Explores The Idea Of An Afterlife
“Don’t you think your discovery was just too dangerous to share with the world?”
If the teaser trailer for Netflix’s The Discovery shocked you, the full-length version will leave you completely shook. It will also give you a better sense of what you can expect from the film: a lot of death.
When Dr. Thomas Harbor, played by Robert Redford, discovers the existence of an afterlife, people begin killing themselves in order to get there. Suicide numbers increase by the second, but when pressed by a reporter, played by Mary Steenburgen, he stands by the choice to share his findings with the world. “How can you keep a discovery so vital to our existence a secret?” he asks stoically. “We opened the door for these people, now we have to show them what’s behind it.”
The doctor’s son, played by Jason Segel, doesn’t appear to have the same feelings, though, when his lover, played by Rooney Mara, seems determined to see what’s in store. The tricky terrain of suicide will likely cause some controversy amongst the more religious and conservative crowds. For the rest, Netflix is not going to make canceling your subscription easy.
The movie will be available to stream starting March 31. Watch the trailer above.
