Netflix’s New Show ‘The Get Down’ Is Full Of Fresh Faces

+ shameik moore, jaden smith, and more

Another day, another original Netflix series to add to your binge-watching list. The streaming service—which was just made available to everyone outside of China today—released its sizzle reel for one of its newest must-watches, The Get Down.

With a focus on 1970s New York—specifically the South Bronx—director Baz Luhrmann will show how the near-bankrupt city gave birth to disco, punk, and hip-hop. It promises to bring viewers into New York’s fabled hotspots, like CBGBs and Studio 54, while giving a ton of fresh faces their well-deserved time in the spotlight. (We see you, Shameik Moore! After Dope, we can’t wait to see what you’ve got up your sleeve.) Oh, and Jaden Smith has a small role, too.

It should go without saying that everything from the costumes to the music look and sound incredible. (C’mon, this is the guy that brought you Moulin Rouge!, Romeo + Juliet, and The Great Gatsby.) The Get Down premieres sometime in 2016—just enough time for you to binge-watch all the other shows that are coming out this year. That, or plan on not sleeping for a while. That was a resolution of yours, yeah?
