Video Premiere: MYZICA’s “Wait Just a Minute”

shimmering indie-pop from nashville

by Ben Barna

When it comes to bands, we here at NYLON are very down with boy-girl duos, and our latest crush is on Nashville pair MYZICA. Producer Micah Tawlks and singer Isaaca Byrd both emerged from Nashville's fertile music scene, but don't expect forlorn country ballads or twangy, nationalistic anthems. Instead, they make shimmering, emotive pop music, which you can hear on their latest single, "Wait Just a Minute."

The video for the song, which can be found on their upcoming self-titled EP (debuting June 9), shows a charismatic Byrd singing and dancing around a revolving mirror contraption as lights and shadows interlock. "When we were brainstorming ideas for the music video, we wanted to come up with a simple concept that was still engaging throughout," Byrd tells us. "Directors Joey Ciccoline and Daniel Shepherd came up with the spinning mirror idea which we immediately fell in love with."

You can watch the premiere below.
