Watch the Trailer for the ‘Goosebumps’ Movie

it’ll give you, er, goosebumps

by Ben Barna

The clever premise behind the upcoming Goosebumps movie is that the author of the famous young-adult horror series, R.L. Stine, is actually the story's hero, trying to stop his creations from wreaking havoc on a small town. In the movie's first trailer, we meet the two young leads, played by rising stars Odeya Rush and Dylan Minnette, next-door neighbors who team up with Stine—played by Jack Black at his Jack Black-iest—to do battle with abominable snowmen, giant insects, murderous gnomes, and all sorts of terrors from Stine's pitch-black imagination.

The movie, which will be released in October just in time for that holiday when everyone dresses up like monsters out of an R.L. Stine book, is being backed by Stine himself, told Comingsoon.net that the movie's Big Bad is Slappy the Dummy, the notorious ventriloquist dummy that still gives us nightmares to this day.

Goosebumps hits theaters on October 16.
