Watch The New ‘Wet Hot American Summer: First Day Of Camp’ Trailer

get yourself ready

In the 14 years since Wet Hot American Summer was released, comedy—just like every creative medium—has advanced tenfold. And so over the past few years, the film, which started the careers of Amy Poehler, Bradley Cooper, Michael Ian Black, Elizabeth Banks, Paul Rudd, and more, has finally gained a devoted cult following. Following in the footsteps of another under-appreciated work, Arrested Developement, Netflix decided to bring the film back.

Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp serves as the prequel to the original film (which, let's remember, was set on the last day of camp). And, according to the newly released trailer—voiced by H. Jon Benjamin, who also plays the role of the can of vegetables (perhaps the film's most seminal role)—a lot happens over the course of the summer: Gail hasn't had her heart broken yet (and neither has Katie), nobody has drowned yet (we assume), and Gene hasn't quite "gone" for his refrigerator.
