On Independence Day of 2025, Kesha released an album with a bold statement to her fans: “THE FIRST ALBUM I GET TO OWN MYSELF. ON MY RECORD LABEL. IT IS ALL MINE.”

The record, simply called . (Period), is an all-caps declaration of creative freedom. It’s her first release as an independent artist, and the first time she has full control and ownership of her work. The album takes listeners on a breathless tour of genres and sounds, from ambient pop and disco grooves (“Freedom”) to emotional ballads (“Cathedral”) and the recession-era party rap that made her famous (“Joyride”). With The Freedom Tour this spring, Kesha’s officially taking her victory lap.

Below, she takes NYLON backstage at her latest performance, part of Live Nation’s “Summer of Live: Secret Set” series. At San Francisco’s East Meadow Lawn, she surprised fans with a pop-up DJ set and debuted her new single, “Origami,” ahead of its May 8 release.

As part of Summer of Live, Live Nation is offering $30 tickets to more than 4,000 shows. Tickets are on sale through May 5.
