Winter in Colorado is electric. The air is sharp, the sun relentless even in the cold. There's a rhythm here that feels invigorating and deeply restful at once. Mornings start early, evenings stretch long. An ideal day involves fresh powder, après-ski that flows into dinner, and a soak in the hot tub.
Jayma Cardoso, the founder of Montauk's beloved The Surf Lodge, has built a career on reading what people want from a season. This winter, she's splitting her time in and around Aspen, offering mountain-goers a taste of The Snow Lodge experience: "Casual, social spots where you stop in for a coffee or a drink and end up staying for hours," she says.
Cardoso's winter wardrobe celebrates pieces that work both on and off the slopes. This season, she's turning to ASOS for all her cold-weather essentials. At the top of her list are cozy knits, ski suits with a belt at the waist, statement coats in blacks, creams, and browns, with pops of color for those bluebird days when the sun hits just right. "I want layers that keep me warm and are comfortable enough for a night out," she tells NYLON.
Her picks follow that logic: oversized coats that shield you from wind without feeling bulky, textured faux fur for mountain mornings, pieces that transition from mountain to lodge without a wardrobe change. "Winter style should be fun," she says. "A well-cut ski suit, a cozy knit, or a statement faux-fur coat will carry you from the slopes to a night out."
Below, some of her ASOS must-haves for winter.
