Off-White launched a Basquiat capsule collection today, and it's the best fashion tribute we've seen all year. The line features everything from tees and hoodies to iPhone accessories, all featuring late artist Jean-Michel Basquiat's inspirational work.
Off-White founder and Louis Vuitton artistic director Virgil Abloh—who is also known for his collabs with the likes of Ikea, and Nike—said in a statement, "Jean-Michel Basquiat is an important link to a downtown New York culture and an American Artist that laid the foundation for Off-White to exist today. The collection celebrates that fact."
Basquiat was a Brooklyn-born artist whose work frequently inspired social commentary on topics like politics, poverty, and segregation. His work quickly gained international attention before his untimely heroin overdose in 1988 when he was just 27 years old. It was only fitting for Abloh, who also merged politics and art with his 2017 collaboration with Jenny Holzer, to create a capsule bringing attention to the important artist.
We're beyond excited about the products in this collection, some of which are available to buy today. While you'll have to wait for the iPhone accessories, you can buy the clothing on Off-White's website now and in international stores starting January 12. See some of our favorite pieces, below.
