Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez attended an NYC drag show this past weekend and hopped up on stage to give a short but inspiring speech. According to attendees, the crowd went wild.
When performer Joey Arias brought AOC up to the stage, the politician-activist (and my future president) told the crowd, "You are special! You are beautiful! You are accepted! Let's give a big round of applause to our artists." I stan.
Performer Dirty Martini shared a perfect selfie to Instagram, saying, "We all couldn't have been more thrilled" about AOC's surprise appearance. "I felt ultra #patriotic performing my #patriotact for this special audience that was chanting her initials! Fight that good fight for what this country deep down is really about- equality, liberty & peace," they added.
Murray Hill agreed: "She brought hope to the room and showed us [America's] future," they wrote. "In this pix, I'm saying, 'I'm standing next to a future president!'"
