Cara Delevingne Is Tired Of Being Told What Beauty Should Look Like

“Beauty shouldn’t be so easily defined. It is limitless.”

Cara Delevingne doesn’t want to be told what is and isn’t beautiful anymore. The model-slash-actress divulged her feelings on the topic today via Instagram.

“Its [sic] exhausting to be told what beauty should look like,” she wrote. “I am tired of society defining beauty for us. Strip away the clothes, wipe off the make up [sic], cut off the hair. Remove all the material possessions.”

It’s unclear what motivated her statement on the matter. She recently shaved her head (reportedly, for a movie role), so that could have something to do with it. She continues, in a separate post: “The more we embrace who we are as people and rely less on our physical attributes, the more empowered we become. Beauty shouldn’t be so easily defined. It is limitless.”

It’s easy for Delevingne—a figure deemed beautiful many times over by societies standards and whose eyebrows have spawned a movement—to openly make this statement. But it doesn’t take away from the message: It’s up to you to find out what falls into the category of beauty. As she asks: “Who are we? How are we defining beauty? What do we see as beautiful?” Those are questions you’ll have to answer for yourself.
