Dakota Johnson’s Reaction To Her Wardrobe Malfunction Is The BEST

maybe the greatest moment of the people’s choice awards.

Ah, the celebrity wardrobe malfunction. It’s both embarrassing and cringeworthy, and, yet, beautiful in it’s own absurd way. Really, though, it’s not the specific malfunction that’s important or even the bit of skin the star accidentally reveals. No, it’s the way that the celeb handles a drooping front or a split skirt that makes the a malfunction great or tragic. As they say, it’s not how you fall, it’s how you get up.

Last night, at the People’s Choice Awards, Fifty Shades of Grey’s Dakota Johnson fell the hell down, and then got the hell up, spectacularly. While accepting the Favorite Dramatic Actress award for her role in the sexy, sexy flick, Johnson took hold of her statuette while also getting a free round of hugs from her friends Leslie Mann and Alison Brie. Alas, Mann’s hug also managed to snag the zipper from Johnson’s rather lovely, evening-appropriate dress and, whoops, there went her back.

It wasn’t what you would call a serious, Tara Reid-level malfunction. As we said though, it’s not what comes out of your dress, but how you deal with it—and Johnson dealt.

“Leslie just broke my dress,” she said with a big ol’ grin on her face. “Well,” she continued, “it’s not like no one here hasn’t already seen my boobs.” She laughed. The audience laughed. We laughed. It’s a good lesson in owning your little flubs and majorly embarrassing goofs. Keep it in mind the next time you fall up a flight of stairs or eat dinner through your scarf.
